Australian Wine Tasting Tokyo 2024

ABOUT: A Wine Australia event that is being supported by WA WINES TO THE WORLD and the WA Govt Tokyo Office (JTSI). The Australian Wine Tasting Tokyo 2024 is an exciting opportunity for Australian wineries to showcase brands distributed in Japan to key trade and influential media.

The day will comprise of a tasting targeting 80+ wineries and three masterclasses conducted by well-known sommeliers. Last year's event attracted approx 300 key trade and media visitors from Tokyo and beyond.

WA WINES TO THE WORLD has secured a Great Southern masterclass at this trade event, with the theme "GREAT SOUTHERN GEMS - Riesling & Syrah".

OBJECTIVES: Provide WA exporters with a platform to promote wines already in market to key Japanese trade and media, from Tokyo and beyond; ultimately to encourage listings and sales of WA wines.. To educate Japanese trade and media re Great Southern regional wines (via one of three masterclasses presented).

AUDIENCE: Japanese trade and media (400+ targeted).

ELIGIBILITY: Suitable for WA producers with established distribution in Japan and an importer/distributor willing to represent their wines on the day. A detailed list of participation criteria are provided on Wine Australia’s web page.

For the Great Southern masterclass, wines must be 100% Great Southern GI fruit - Riesling and Syrah/Shiraz, they must have 90 points (minimum) or equivalent 3rd party endorsement and they need to be available for purchase in Japan.

COST TO PARTICIPATE: Cost to participate is normally $200 per SKU, however WA WINES TO THE WORLD, in conjunction with the WA Govt Tokyo Office (JTSI), is offering all WA producers a 55% subsidy. The net cost to producers is just $90 +GST, for up to 5 SKUs per brand. 

For the masterclass the cost is additional - $300 (ex GST) per SKU - 6 wines in total (cost of wines and delivery is additional).

TIMING: Event held 10th September, 2024. Registrations for the main event are now closed, but we are currently calling for registrations for the Great Southern masterclass.
