New Exporters Workshop
ABOUT: Workshop plus one-on-one coaching to guide new exporters on brand pitching, pricing, distributor decisions, export toolkit essentials and more.
A practical program developed specifically for new WA wine exporters looking to set up for success. The program includes a comprehensive in-person workshop followed by one-on-one coaching (up to 4 one-hour sessions) to address the individual needs of specific businesses and their brands.
Participants will walk away with a clear idea of the necessary steps to take for export success as well as a toolkit of export essentials.
The program will cover:
Brand pitching for export audiences
Choosing an export market
Competitor analysis
Calculating export RRPs
Export Price List (FOB pricing)
Essential support materials
How to find/assess potential distributors
Methods to approach new distributors
Distributor due diligence
Distributor support expectations
Appropriate third-party endorsements
Preparing for in-market activities
Ongoing communications and follow-up
Export freight and logistics essentials (presented by KUEHNE+NAGEL)
WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE? WA wine producers looking to get ‘export-ready’ or those early in their export journey should look to participate in the entire program (workshop and coaching sessions). Exporters, agents and consultants representing WA wine brands are also welcome to participate in the workshop component.
OUTCOMES: At the end of the New Exporters Workshop program, participants will be ready for export market entry and activities, with a high degree of confidence re next steps to be taken.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM FACILITATORS: Liz Mencel and Darren Oemcke from Hydra Consulting jointly manage the WA Wines to the World program for Wines of Western Australia. Liz will present the in-person workshops and Darren will undertake the one-on-one coaching (via Zoom/Teams). Both facilitators have extensive experience in exporting, export training and in coaching companies through the various stages of export preparation, market entry and market development.
Freight specialists KUEHNE+NAGEL will present on export freight and logistics essentials at both workshops.
COST TO PARTICIPATE: This program is heavily subsidised by WA WINES TO THE WORLD. All participants must sign up for one of the in-person workshops. Follow-up coaching sessions are an essential element of the program (for wine producers only). All inclusive cost is $250 +GST.
